1X2 is home, draw, or away. It is the simplest football market and the one most people start with. The price already includes the bookmaker margin, so a short favourite is not automatically a good bet.

Handicaps and Asian lines

A handicap gives one side a virtual head start. Asian lines can also refund part of the stake on a push. Use them when you like a team but not at the raw 1X2 price.

Quarter lines split the stake across two nearby handicaps. If you do not want that extra moving part, stick to whole or half lines until you are comfortable.

Totals: over and under

Totals ask whether the match produces more or fewer goals than the posted line. Team news, weather, and recent scoring rates matter more than the league name on the coupon.
